Please be advised that the University Neighbourhoods Association (UNA) members will elect seven members to its Board of Directors at the 2024 UNA Election. This election will run from November 4 to November 26.


Online Voting

This election, you will be able to vote using a secure online voting system. This system is designed to make voting simple and accessible from a phone, computer, or tablet, while also safeguarding the integrity and security of the election.

Who is Eligible to Vote and Run?

To be eligible to vote, a person must be registered as a UNA Society Member by November 22. To be a UNA Society Member, a person must be a resident in one of the UNA’s neighbourhoods (Chancellor Place, East Campus, Hampton Place, Hawthorn Place, and Wesbrook Place) or buildings (Central Building and Focal Building), be at least 18 years of age, and sign up online or in-person. Please note that having a UNA Account or UNA Card does not automatically register you as a UNA Society Member – you must specifically sign up to be a UNA Society Member by logging in your UNA Account. To be eligible to run for Director, a person must be registered as a UNA Society Member by October 4.

Call for Nominations

UNA Society Members interested in running for one of the seven seats are asked to submit a completed nomination form and additional items stated in the form by October 4 at noon, 12 p.m. To find a copy of the nomination form, please visit myuna.ca/elections.

All-Candidates Forum

The All-Candidates Forum will be hosted by the UNA on November 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wesbrook Community Centre. The forum will serve as an opportunity for UNA Society Members to ask candidates questions and for candidates to engage in an open debate about their platforms and goals should they be elected to the UNA Board of Directors.

Election Package

As we transition to electronic voting, the UNA is providing a physical package of information on the election to bring awareness to this new process. An election package will be mailed to all UNA Society Members who are registered as of October 24. The election package will contain information on each candidate and instructions to find one’s voter ID and voting password and vote online. This package is for information purposes only and will not contain your voting credentials.

Persons who register to become a UNA Society Member after October 24 can pick up an election package at the Wesbrook Community Centre or Old Barn Community Centre, or visit our website myuna.ca/elections.

Voting

On November 4, all UNA Society Members will receive an email from the UNA with unique voter IDs and voting passwords to log on to the voting website and vote. Anyone who signs up after November 4 will receive an email with their voter credentials within one business day following their registration.

Deadline for Voting

The deadline to become a UNA Society Member in order to vote is November 22. Visit our website at myuna.ca/society for more information on how to sign up.

Deadline for Submitting Ballots

The deadline to submit your ballot is November 26 at 4:30 p.m. The counting proceedings will take place immediately after voting closes. The successful candidates will be announced by email and on the UNA website once the results are certified.
