The following road closure advisory for W. 16th Avenue is being sent on behalf of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) since W. 16 Avenue is within their jurisdiction.


Please be advised that a production company will be filming scenes for an upcoming TV series on W. 16th Avenue between Wesbrook Mall and Blanca Street on Sunday, September 15 and Monday, September 16.

During this time:

  • All public transit will be rerouted. You can find more information about the detours on the TransLink website.
  • All vehicles will be detoured to University Boulevard and Chancellor Boulevard. Plan ahead for additional travel time.
  • The westbound exit from Hampton Place open on W. 16th Avenue will be open at all times.
  • All pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured to either University Boulevard or through Pacific Spirit Park on Monday, September 16 only.
  • The pedestrian crossing across W. 16th Avenue at Binning Road (near Hampton Place) will be open for use at all times.

The UNA has sought more information about this notice and has been advised of the following times for the closure:

  • Road Closure Begins: Sunday, September 15, 1 a.m.
  • Road Reopens: Tuesday, September 16, 1 a.m.

Given the short notice, please anticipate that this might cause disruptions in your commute. Please allow time for delays and detours when planning your trips.

Related to this, the MOTI is in the process of upgrading the crosswalk signal at W. 16th Avenue and Binning Road. The work on the crosswalk signal will begin next week and is expected to be completed by late September early October.
